Syllabus
This course is designed as an introduction to PCR. Topics will be approached using a combination of lectures and laboratory exercises. Topics covered include: an introduction to PCR, critical requirements for amplification, thermostable polymerases, Reverse transcription, cloning of PCR products, primer design and recombinant and mutagenic PCR. Laboratory experiments will reinforce the lecture materials and provide hands-on experience in the basic techniques surrounding amplification.

Learning Objectives and Target Audience
This is an introductory workshop. It is suitable for those with some very basic molecular biology experience. No prior PCR experience is required. Students will learn the basic theory and techniques used for PCR. Following this course students will be able to perform PCR reactions in their own laboratory, troubleshoot experiments and design primers and determine PCR reaction conditions.

Cost: $1,300.00
The cost of tuition includes lecture and laboratory learning, and a complete manual of course material. Students will be responsible for their own transportation and lodging and lunch each day. There are many lunch options available nearby the Institute.

Location
The BioTechnical Institute of Maryland, Inc is conveniently located at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland.  There are many hotels and accommodations available within walking distance to the Institute.

Transportation
- Baltimore Washington International Airport is located approximately 20 miles from Baltimore. Shuttle service to the Inner Harbor is available.
- Ronald Reagan National Airport and Dulles Airports are less than 2 hours away.
- Train transportation is convenient to downtown Baltimore.

Cancellation
In the even of a workshop cancellation, BTI will refund only the workshop registration fees. BTI is not responsible for other expenses incurred due to a BTI workshop cancellation.
