Course Outline
The purpose of the Cell Culture Workshop is to provide a solid
understanding of basic cell culture techniques through classroom
and laboratory work. Students will gain significant experience
in the manipulation of cells through culture. Through integrated
learning techniques, utilizing both hands-on training and lectures,
students will learn the biological basis and relevance of the
process of culturing cells. This will allow students to translate
the techniques and information learned in this workshop into
their own laboratories.
Topics covered
Introduction to cell and tissue culture
Serum-containing and serum-free culture media
Trypsinization, cell counting, viability and growth curves
Growth of adherent and suspension cultures
